While most of them have basic knowledge about equity shares and how the stock market operates, many people don’t know what it is all about. They only know is that with a Trading and Demat account, they can buy and sell shares.

People sometimes ask me the difference between equity, stocks, share, and scrip. They don’t know what a Demat account is, and who maintains them.

Many ask what causes the Sensex and Nifty to change.

Some are concerned about the safety of the shares they have bought and, some are worried about being cheated.

In one instance, there was a person who asked me whether shares of any company offered in IPO, can be bought at its face value.

Some dream that by investing a small amount of money in the stock market, they can make huge money overnight.

I have come across well-educated persons who believe that investing in the stock market is akin to gambling.

These doubts and many more could pop up in the mind of a person who is new to the stock market. To help such people, I have tried to explain briefly to them through the pages on this site.
